Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities (DCDC): An annual conference for the archive, library, museum and academic sectors
DCDC18 considered the interplay between memory and transformation within heritage organisations and their wider impact on the cultural landscape. It sought to examine how, through developing new points of entry to collections, archives, libraries, museums and galleries, the industry could work collaboratively to meet strategic ambitions. Further, it explored how to meaningfully engage with different audiences and communities.

MA conference: A great opportunity to see new things
This year, the conference returned to Belfast for the first time in over thirty years. The conference theme of "Dissent: inspiring hope and embracing change" not only reflects the character of the host city but also the social and political context we are all working in today. Many of the sessions focused on how museums are presenting, reacting to and engaging with dissent.
Apart from the keynote and panel discussion sessions, delegates and exhibition visitors could also attend free practical seminars run by the MA’s professionals.

MozFest: The world’s leading festival for an open internet
Each year, technologists activists, artists, and educators from around the world travel to London to address the internet’s biggest issues, like privacy, security, and inclusion. In October 2018, the seven-day festival spread across London. Over 2,000 participants from dozens of countries and several world-class keynote speakers encountered in hundreds of hands-on sessions.

The Tanzmesse is an event dedicated to contemporary dance without any specific geographical focus. All forms of contemporary dance formats, personalities and organisations are welcome and expected.
In 2018, artists from more than 50 countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia found an equal opportunity to present their work to a professional audience. Tanzmesse participants met their peers and colleagues in an environment where everybody was on the same level: in the Exhibition Halls, at the Talks & Panels and at the Open Studios, but also after the performances at the night-meeting encounters.

The 56th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia

La Biennale di Venezia is the oldest and most prestigious international art exhibition. It was held for the first time in 1895 under the name of “I Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte della Città di Venezia” (1st International Art Exhibition of the City of Venice) at the Palazzo dell'Esposizione, especially built for this purpose in the Giardini di Castello. The denomination “Biennale” (Italian for “every other year”), became later a common term to designate international exhibitions and other cultural events worldwide that take place on a regular basis.
The 56th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale opened to the public on 9th May 2015. Curator of the Central International Art Exhibition at the Arsenale and the Giardini is Okwui Enwezor.
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2014

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an international exposition of living cultural heritage annually produced outdoors on the National Mall of the United States in Washington, D.C., by the Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
The Festival takes place for 2 weeks every summer overlapping the 4th of July holiday. It is an educational presentation that features community-based cultural exemplars. Free to the public, like other Smithsonian museums, each Festival typically draws hundreds of thousands of visitors.
